Some people take them on as as needed basis, some on a regular dosage. Totally calms you down, a low dose and you ate functioning- high dose you are

My doctor prescribed low dose to me for sleeping difficulties after my husband of thirty years suddenly and without warning left me for a younger woman.

After 2.5 years, I'm doing OK without them now. But I could have sure used one after a tough day at the office today.

The vodka and OJ is doing the trick.

It puts me to sleep, I couldnt function all day on it. It's an as needed for axiety/panic attack. My dad takes a low maintenance dosaage .25 - and he functions just fine on it.

I did not even know they came in such a low dose.

5mg is usual adult dose
7 mg will put me in a nice relaxed sleep.

Did you know, there is an herb called Valerian root, comes in 500 mg capsules, which is same as
5 mg of Valium but non habit forming.
and cheap.

On edit....Happily, folks who read this drew my attention to errors...short of deleting the whole post, let me say that I was talking about Valium and OP was talking about Xanax, and I managed to confuse the 2 in my response.
Tho tis true that Valerian root is equal to Valium.
The only excuse I have is that the Valium we have is for my dog's panic attacks....maybe I need some too?

9. Oh it comes in a much lower dose!

My dad has .5's and .25's -- which are maintenance doses. The first time I took a 1 I was out within minutes. Now it puts me to sleep after about an hour.

I have Valerian Roots and do take them occasionally, until I found the Xanax! I really should go bask to them so I don't get hooked on Xanax. I don't take it for a high feeling-- just when my anxiety is out of control.

20. I goofed and got Valium mixed with Xanax in my brain....

Was looking at the bottle we have, and it is diazapam, not alprazolam.
Valium normal dose is 5 mg
Xanax normal dose is .5 mg.

The little pouches they put in stuffed toys for catnip? I open a cap of powdered Valerian and stuff it in the pouch, my kitteh luvs it and then he sleeps. It stinks like dirty socks though.

And yes, it does have a strong odor. I learned the hard way to always take a full glass of water with a Valerian capsule.
Only takes one time burping it back up to learn to use plenty of water.
But...a good herb, a real good relaxer.

He likes both, but the Valerian will settle his rambunctious self down. Given a choice, he chooses Valerian over catnip, plus those pouches can be kind of small and the Valerian is stronger.

For hangover I recommend greasy burger, gatorade, something for the headache, then lots of water and sleep.

15. Xanax is very difficult to quit

Please be very careful with the dosage and don't drink while taking it. I had a friend from college who had grand mal seizures after going cold turkey from xanax.

18. NEVER mix with alcohol for sure.

My best friend was going through a bad point in her life and was mixing the two. This resulted in totally bizarre behaviors that she did not even remember the next day. Plus it can be lethal. I do not take regularly, only for panic attack or extreme anxiety.

Along the lines of Xanax, works on GABA receptors. Legal and you don't need a prescription.
