(39,343 posts)it's eerily too close to a dessert to be called a side dish. If you like sweet, eat a pie. If you want veggies, eat veggies. Make up your mind and stop trying to have one dish that is all things to all people. My people go crazy for sweet potatoes.
Oh, and that cranberry thing that is shaped like the can.

(60,010 posts)Down here, trifle recipes grow like kudzu.
"All you have to do is take some gelatin, some marshmellows, some cream cheese, blend it all up and pour into a trifle bowl, alternating with Double packed Oreos. Serve with Kool whip on top."
Sorta the universal recipe, far as I can tell.

(17,045 posts)That sounds gross!
I also dislike fruit salad with whip cream and coconut.

So far they have not figured out a way to deep fry it, but I suspect it is on the horizon.
Plus, you hardly have to chew, you can kinda just inhale it in.

(20,176 posts)except it's not candied yams, it's my grandmother's recipe for tuna and potato salad.
We all miss and love grandma...but lets just say that those fishy taters were something we were not upset none of us had ever learned the recipe for...until my aunt started bringing them to everything. We started assigning her other things to bring and she brings them anyways.
None of us complain though: they just smell bad, don't get eaten and stay in the kitchen. They remind us of grandma. I dare suggest that someday uneaten as they may be, you'll miss the presence of those infernal yams.

I can pick pecans all day, enjoy doing.
Just don't like what is in the shell.
