Holy Zeus!1 I'm posting this on a Kindle Fire HD - and - on a full sized keyboard!1
BEZOS was on talk shows the past couple of days pumped about the thing being shipped then (earlier than announced), and it's here!
Have never used a tablet before and detest touch screens, so the blue tooth keyboard is doing this. With two handed typing! The whole thing moved along fairly easily, needed a second try to connect to a network with network password, was apparently already charged, did the registration, then some downloading of updates for 20 min or so. Haha, at 5% it whined that my connection was slow and did I want to continue or do it later. It continued and was done.
DU is my first "Favorite" complete with the logged-in version. I don't know. I don't take devices to places, and I think the User's Guide says this can't connect to public spots that have passwords? So hmmm.
I guess it would be Off and just for reading like a regular Kindle. But, wow, as somebody here has said, Kindle is basically for selling Amazon products and the hard sell for getting you to the Amazon store is right in your face.
