You aren't even required to use the copyright symbol or otherwise identify it. The act of production is the copyright. The caveat: If you don't PROTECT the copyright, it is assumed to be public domain, even if the copyright has been formally filed. That's why there are so damn many lawsuits.

The Internet has made it a bit more complicated. Any cute picture (including porn) that gets posted in a brazillian different places becomes public domain. I add a copyright to pictures I've taken, but Photoshop will take care of that problem.

That said, I really love the guitar pick logo. That's cool (and I'm stealing it). Just kidding.
