Wish me luck folks! Cataract surgery tomorrow.

I know it's not a big surgery and many others have faced much more serious things with less certain outcomes. But still, it involves a knife cutting into my body. Although I fully expect to be better off when it's over, it's still a bit intimidating.

it was so easy and totally painless (my eyes just felt a bit tired afterwards, like when you stay up too long?) - I was so scared going in to it and it turned out it was the easiest surgery I've ever had, not even like a real surgery at all! So I hope that your surgery is the same way and that you will be just fine and heal quickly and look back and think "no big deal!" after it's all done like I did!

I'd be scared shitless, but anyone I know who has had it done describes it as a miracle surgery. One friend just last week just kept talking about how much brighter and more beautiful the world is since she had hers done.

20 minutes of being there on the table there sedated, then the surgeon steps back and said "That's it"
The nurses peel off the tape holding my eyelid open and sit me up.
The doc says "How is it"
I look around and say "Everything's in focus"
The only restriction was no heavy lifting or bending over for 24 hours.
A month later they did my other eye and it went the same way.
That was 16 years ago.

Five minutes after leaving the hospital, I pulled into a QuikTrip for gasoline. Her comment, while she still had the eye patch one, was "Look at how bright red that sign is".

I'm very glad I had it done. And it didn't hurt at all. The doctor had to put a stitch in one and that felt a little irritating but not for long.

I came through the procedure just fine. Can't say it was how I would choose to spend an afternoon, but it wasn't bad. Your vibes helped!

I had cataracts removed and cornea transplants in the spring. You'll be amazed at the differences in the colors, particularly gray, white and blue -- at least that was my experience. I had a little more recuperation time because of the corneas, 24 hours flat on my back, but it wasn't bad. I still have astigmatism and have to wear glasses for reading, but at least it's correctable which it wasn't before.

I was scared before I had it.

It turned out to be not at all bad. I had it done on both eyes, and now I do not have to wear glasses regularly. I just have reading glasses.

You will be fine. Please come back and talk to us when it is over.

The nurse told me that they'd velcro my arms down since I was sedated and they didn't want me to "help" the doctor. Between star bursts, watching light increase about 300%, and also watching the implant slide in and unfold, I was fascinated. It was amazing. If it weren't for the drugs, I could've driven home! From legally blind to 20/20 in 15 minutes (per eye).

Freakin' AWESOME!!!

You're going to love it mysuzuki2!

BTW, I'm back riding my Honda. Wanna' race that Suzuki? After surgery of course.

My Rx was very extreme and I will probably never be 20/20. But I went from 4.5 diopters of astigmatism to about .75 which is a lot of improvement. The other eye will be done in a couple of weeks. My Suzuki intruder has been put away for the winter. I live in Wisconsin so it ain't coming out again for a few months. Next spring, we'll see!
