It should be nor'easter. Check [link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nor%27easter| Also, I'm from a maritime family and as a child asked my mom about the terms she used... why nor'east and sou'west? It was for sailors to easily distinguish a call "She's coming southeast" or "When she blows sou'west, we'll set sail". A wind out of the north east usually meant a bad storm, thus the common link of today. So the four mid points of the compass are northwest, nor'east, southeast and sou'west.
