from my friend in Hoboken, NJ via facebook...

I was glad to hear from her this evening, after she said she was going offline last night when the power went out.

Half of Hoboken is under water and, luckily the part she lives in escaped flooding...
here's what she wrote...

"Hoboken is a mess, and yes, they are sitting in up to 5 ft of water. I doubt that anything would be open for business. Downtown JC is also a nightmare. Living on the cliff, we were extremely lucky that we didn't get hit with the flooding. There are downed trees, everywhere, and it is pitch black."

So she just posted a little bit this evening and said she would keep us updated, as she didn't want to use up her battery.

Y'all take care up there!

The pictures are unreal, cars floating in the roads.

The National Guard has been deployed there and is now rescuing folks.

Glad your buddy is AOK

won't have power until maybe Monday.

She's found a local bar (some place in walking distance, I'm assuming)
for food, electricity, internet and neighbors.

I just can't imagine.

I'd take her in for a few days, but I'm in Texas.

It's rough being stuck in a house with zero power.

I think they give a longer estimate so people won't lose hope, but some are reporting their power is being restored in parts of NJ already, so we'll hope she gets hers back soon.

So hard to be that far away.

She'll have stories to tell now, though.
