Meh. I am not supposed to eat today due to a medical test I am having tomorrow. Last night

I had nightmares about eating something, then remembering I wasn't supposed to and then trying to throw it all back up. I am so stressed out right now. And you know what I do when I am stressed? Eat.

Blah. I can't wait until this time tomorrow. Test will be done, I will be home resting, and I will get something to eat.

Are you allowed only water? marzipanni Oct 2012 #1
Only water. And it's not a blood test, it's a colonoscopy which is SO much better. *sigh* But GreenPartyVoter Oct 2012 #3

this is what they do to you when you grow up with Ulcerative Colitis. I'm in the high risk category for cancer, so have to keep on top of how things are doing in there.

Good luck, and I hope all is well!
Maybe you can think of a meal or two of favorite foods to have for lunch and/or dinner tomorrow, and have that to look forward to.

did the whole enema thing. And that was hard on a kid! (And now that I am a parent, I realize it was hard on my folks too.)

... which is a Latin abbreviation for "nothing by mouth" (water OR food) in case there's a procedure
or surgery needed soon where I could aspirate something in my stomach and choke.
.
Whenever they've decided what to do with me, I've become obsessive about when I can eat -- as
on one occasion, they forgot to remove the designation.
.
I might or might not even be hungry -- but the thought that I can NOT eat is frustrating!!!
.
I also nodded off pre-surgery and woke up after dreaming about having eaten something right there
in the pre-surgical space. I was freaking out a little until they convinced me it had just been a dream.
A sweet, sweet, tasty TASTY dream.

Relax. This too shall pass.

And remember... things could be worse. MUCH worse.

because of circumstance.

Glad to know I am not the only one who has those little nightmares. (I had them back when I tried to diet and was bulimic, too. Hence the throwing up bit.)
