One of my grand-kiddos (age 3) just had his two front teeth knocked out. Boys will be boys...I'm babysitting for him & his brother & promised them a pizza party. I'm thinking that pizza might be too hard on his tender little mouth, so am looking for suggestions. Mac & cheese, maybe. Monster cupcakes have been requested. His mama isn't too fussy about what he eats right now, just as long as he eats something!

(3,445 posts)I had an episode of Bells Palsy a little over a year ago, and the right side of my face was paralyzed for over 2 weeks. I ate a lot of single-serve mac and cheese and potatoes, and I did eat some warm cheese and sauce off a pizza by cutting it up in small pieces. Yogurt and ice cream were good, too....

(46,416 posts)Boil 'em, add salt and melted butter (usually onions too--otherwise bland, but maybe not for him).

(9,527 posts)Of course I had the poor timing to get them put on right before Thanksgiving and then tightened right before Christmas.
So all I had were mashed potatoes and gravy for two holiday meals.
Also most soups are good. Chicken noodle, or chicken and wild rice or a chowder.

(2,939 posts)Round one happened on Monday. He slipped while going up the big kid's slide at the park (he has to do everything big bro does & usually does it well). My daughter immediately took him in. They had to swaddle him & tape him to the gurney. And it took 6 people to hold him down. Result one tooth pushed back up into the roof of his mouth & stitches on the inside of his lip.
Round two came when he went climbing & smacked his mouth on the table. Completely lost a second tooth.
So we've visited his dentist & a pediatric dentist & it's wait & see if he'll need surgery to get the other tooth out.

(32,086 posts)It's almost like pizza. Same flavors. And, it can easily be cut into bit-size pieces, where no biting in involved.

(47,675 posts)... like "Ensure", but get the store brand (much cheaper) - they come in vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry and are thick enough to call them "milkshakes" (non-dairy). Refrigerate the cans before opening because they go down better cold.
Scrambled eggs would be another option, as are pancakes and muffins. And ice cream is always an option!

(20,176 posts)The concept seems self-explanatory but if not:
You take cooked pasta. (Edit: I usually use shells or rotini, they seem to work best because they "catch" the sauce and toppings.)
Add shredded cheese.
Add pizza toppings. (Whatever. (cubed small or sliced or otherwise-pieced) Veggies. pepperoni. sausage. meatballs. anchovies. I like Kalamata olives and feta.)
Stir. It becomes a gloopy mess. It tastes awesome. I lived on it through four dental extractions because I grew up in bumblefuck in my primary-school years and have butter-soft adult teeth in back. No molars left, just implants. It requires little chewing as everything is mostly swallow-sized.
Top with a little more sauce. I also like some Parmesan and red-pepper on top.

(2,939 posts)The heck with the kid, I want that! He's got all sorts of goodies now, including neon orange topped cupcakes with ghoulies & skulls on top.

(50,566 posts)Just blend a couple of frozen bananas, a dollop of peanut butter, several squeezes of choc. sauce and enough milk to make it drinkable. You get fruit, dairy and protein all in one tasty treat. I make it with natural peanut butter, so the only unhealthy thing in there is the choc. sauce. My kids love it.

There are also some wonderful flavored oatmeal varieties. Costco stocks an organic instant oatmeal that manages to be tasty while being low in sugar.

(3,879 posts)and soft breadsticks would work for the little guy. He also might just pull the cheese & toppings off the crust. I used to do that when I was lo-carbbing.
