I saw Pink Floyd right around Dark Side of the Moon release time...Deep Purple, Santana, Tull, Yes, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Zappa, Joni Mitchell - then switched more to jazz - Pat Metheny dozens of times....most recently, Arcade Fire, Patti Griffin and Buddy Miller, Swell Season, Neko Case, Gillian Welch

Best shows of all were Floyd, Tull, Joni, Arcade Fire, Gillian Welch, Miller and Griffin, Swell Season. And pretty much every Metheny show!

REM - had to sit way too far back.....harder to enjoy fully!

about Emerson, Lake and Palmer the Summer of 1974 my first Rock Concert. Maybe my favorite comparing it to Roger Waters The Wall Live 2010 and 2012. But I hope REM will tour again.

Pa. My older sister went but I was more interested in seeing the Pittsburgh Pirates who were playing in town the same night. I was thinking Pink Floyd who in the hell are they just drop me off at the Pirate's game.

It was when they first started playing ginormous arenas.

They were clearly uncomfortable.

My regret was that I was about 3 years too young to catch them when they were playing local clubs constantly.

Unless you happened to catch them on a night when they let Holsapple play one of his songs, which may or may not have happened.

Very good, but not as riveting as the Talking Heads at the Greek in '83.

From that performance came "Stop Making Sense", except the concert was better. Way better.

Saw them in Chicago right after Murmer came out.

They were fantastic in concert.

Tour-film rocks. Fortunately there's dvd's.

I was in one of the first local progressive rock bands in the Washington DC area. But we were way before our time, and were too young to make a go of it anyway.

We DID, however, get to do a few gigs at the Ambassador theater during its brief run, and backed up the original lineup of Canned Heat, Junior Wells and the Chicago Blues Band, and the Youngbloods. Ah, the good old days! But I'd still give a lot to play a duet one day with Leo Kottke, and I'm still the only on on DU to have traded guitar solos with Howard Dean!
