When did "pre-planning" come about? What's wrong with just regular planning?

Isn't that what we used to do, when we were young or our parents were young, or whenever
the verb "to plan" entered the language?

Is just planning not enough any more?

one of our offerings was oven-baked subs which consisted of pizza toppings (you could get whatever you wanted but pepperoni and ham was a popular combo) in a small pizza dough that was folded over and baked - pretty much like a calzone but no ricotta cheese.

But one day I was bored and as a small pepperoni and ham pizza came out of the oven I said "Hey, it's an open-faced pizza sub!" and I am told that 20 years later, folks who were there that day still call a regular pizza an open-faced pizza sub. My little piece of immortality.

To be fair, there's a good chance that folks then thought it was funny because they were really high. You might still need to be to think so as well.

My understanding is that pre-plan planning is best done by an ad hoc committee of disinterested parties with no agenda who hate each other.

The one I hate the most is "pro-active." I guess it would mean that you're in favour of being active, or in favour of activity, while possibly not being active? Really it just means "active" though.

These words are kind of useful though, because you know that when you hear them you can stop paying close attention, because nothing that person says is going to be that important.
