I found four Zappa records in the box to be recorded to CD for my sister.
"Over-nite Sensation"
"Waka-Jawaka"
"Studio Tan"
"Joe's Garage"
And I just noticed, "Over-Nite Sensation" has this song on it: "Zombie Woof"
"Apostrophe" would be a good album to check out as well.

(5,477 posts)I was in a record shop in Greenwich Village looking for something different and the owner recommended it. Took it home, listened, and was music never the same again. Been a fan ever since.
Special-ordered 'Uncle Meat' at a local shop, and when it came in I went down to pick it up. The owner handed it to me in a brown paper bag, and said, "That's got to be the *ugliest* album I've ever seen. It's got TEETH on it!"

And then there was Zappa on the floor of the Senate defending Prince ("masturbating behind a magazine" line) with "If it's not illegal to do it, why should it be illegal to sing about it?" Note - Billy Joel used the word some years earlier in "Captain Jack" - "So your sisters out, on a date. You just sit at home, and masturbate." - but hey, he wasn't black now was he. Curiously, the Senate never bothered to go after Billy Joel.
Zappa went way before his time, but prostate cancer is unforgiving. I really miss him.

(220 posts)Hi,
I saw Zappa in concert a couple of times. The first time He had a great band with Jean Luc Ponty, George Duke, Ian Underwood & his wife were just some of the players. The show ranks as one of the Top 3 concerts I have attended over the years. His shows were not the usual concerts, this one had audience participation just to make it fun.
The second time I was able to sneak my camera with a long telephoto lens into the show & got some great shots.
Zappa was truly one of our great 20th century composers. Long may his memory live.
