Don't care for that poster's positions, either debate them or skip over them.

Its why I find the lounge's regular tallying up of whose got the most ignores to be hilarious. Its often California Peggy who has the most or someone else who you'd never expect.

and I'm heading into my 9th anniversary on DU.

I barely remember most people's user names, so I tend to miss the insults/flames, etc and then don't remember who did what afterwards, anyhow.

You know, I haven't ignored individuals, but I have blocked out forums because I sense a certain incompatibility. I bet those individuals have opted to handled it with ignores because they sense the same incompatibility.

I have, over the years, managed to grow a thicker skin though. Slams, especially when I'm really trying to understand and make something productive out of a disagreement, still get to me but I've managed to turn injured into irritated, which certainly feels better. But I still want to know everything that's going on.

It's sort of like when I was a teeny kid and would sneak into the living room and watch Alfred Hitchcock after being forbidden to do so. Scared the holy hell out of me and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.

is confront them. Whatever it is that they find objectionable about you, deal with it there and then. At least you can leave understanding each other's position better. And that's how I got about four new Ignores added to my list.
