(3,514 posts)house last June. Maybe a bit too zealous in our clean out as I now look for 1 or 2 of my former favorite t shirts that must have made it into the donation pile.

(6,825 posts)ones made of plastic. Clear plastic never looks clean. I had one in my younger years and we made our daiquiris with it. It was made of glass. No more daiquiris, no more blender. 😛

(25,788 posts)room had it's own theme. After my son got to his teens, we kept one and gave the rest to Goodwill.. I was so tired of boxes upon boxes stored in the basement and trees falling out of the closets. Much better now

(23,426 posts)They are the most uncomfortable things mankind ever built, I think. I can't sit in them, and if I try to, I can barely get out of them.
Beyond that, half the stuff in my house--much of it left from my mother. A reckoning is coming.

(7,794 posts)Sometime in early February or March, I reached out to someone who runs a cat rescue and asked them if they accepted old, worn out, and mismatched bed sheets, blankets and comforters. They told me that they accepted these items, so I washed and dried them all, folded them nicely and donated them after a few weeks of organizing my old, worn out and mismatched bedding items. These bulky and unused items are out of my house and have been donated to an animal rescue. Bazinga!
In the last month, I have discarded and de-cluttered an estimated 80 pieces of unnecessary pieces of paperwork and or receipts. I may have lost count after 80, so it's possible that it was more than 80 pieces of paper "whatevers" that I got rid of. Boom!
I also recently handed down some nice but incomplete Sango dishes to people that needed them. I didn't need them at all.
I've purchased a few $5 gray woven baskets from the Dollar Tree and these fit perfectly in my kitchen cabinets depth wise. They hold my kitchen ingredients amazingly and I can even reach the top shelf basket since they have a handle on the side. Not all organization items work the same for everyone. Ka-boom!
It's only a start and I'm no where near being done. For me, it's a colossal dent in the right direction. It's not easy task to declutter for some of us. It's draining mentally, emotionally and sometimes physically.
