Is depression a hangover/symptom of anesthesia? (Original Post) Not Heidi Apr 28 OP
If they induced and/or maintained you on propofol (typical) that is not unusual (pretty well documented) hlthe2b Apr 28 #1

I think it subconsciously reminds of our mortality. Also, your body is focused on healing and wants you to rest.

Mike Wallace first experienced depression when he and CBS were being sued by Gen. Westmoreland in the 80s. Westmoreland eventually dropped the lawsuit, and Mike felt better, but then he fell and broke his wrist while playing tennis. He fell into an even deeper depression and even took an overdose of sleeping pills.

Yes. It is a known side effect. When I heard the 1 month per hour you were under rule of thumb for recovery it took the pressure off and made me feel better.

I was under for 2 1/2 hours. Surgery was April 23rd. I'm looking to the 7th - that'll be two weeks. That itself seems a long time.

I remain depressed. It's hard to think of two more weeks of depression.

(I had foot surgery, and was told that after two days I could walk short distances (i.e., around the house) with a walker, a crutch, or a cane. It *hurts.* I limit myself to the bathroom, and ask my roommates to get me food (they frequently ask me anyway if I need anything). They're good people (my wife and my sister and my niece).)
