Today in the cafeteria they had something new in the fridge section - little Hummus/Pretzel chip snacks.
Lately I've been recognizing that I like hummus especially the roast garlic hummus. I know it's a healthier food for me and the garlic gives a nice flavor to a food I normally thought of as bland.
This is Sabra brand which is also a good tasting hummus.
My rant - they give you way too much hummus and not enough pretzel chips. I know the shame of having to ply way too much hummus like you're doing a reconstruction of Mount Eversett or something in hummus form.
It just seems like any of these kits either they give you too much dip or not enough dip. I mean I would think that before putting a product out on the market they would do some product testing so they could get the right ration of dip to chip for their lil kits.
Other than that rant it was very tasty snack.

(95,337 posts)I mean the snack is suppose to be all-natural but pita bread doesn't have a long shelf life hence the pretzel chips.

(5,364 posts)That way you don't have to carefully break off a sliver of chip in which to make a scraper to dredge up all the accumulated dip around the bottom or sides so to redistribute the dip into a bigger mass more scooping friendly.

In the mid-sixties, when I used to stop at the little store/lunch stop down the road once in a while with a friend after school, I'd get a 7 oz. coke in a glass bottle (~ 85 calories) and a small bag of Wise potato sticks. I looked it up, and a grocery store ad from 1962 shows a 3 oz bag @ .19¢.
I think the bags I bought were .10¢, and maybe 1.5 oz., which is a single serving of potato sticks = 240 calories.
My son has a 'husky' friend, and when they were in elementary school I pointed out the label to the boys after we bought snacks at a convenience store. This kid picked out a 'small' (medium by my archaic standards) bag of corn chips thinking of it as a serving and he should eat the whole bag then and there. I told them this "grab bag" of chips (3.5 servings) is okay for a workman, who needs a lot of calories like the proverbial lumberjack, but is too much for a 10 year old kid. No wonder Mrs Obama has a big job as a health educator!
