Finished raking. Am now ready for the leaves to fall.

Last year's escapade with a leaf vacuum ended with my not picking up any leaves at all, just f*** it. So since it cooled off a tiny bit, I got energized to do it now.

So the leaves on the trees have NOT dropped. What I raked were last year's junk. Now I get to do it all over. And this is not the nostalgic trip of smelling burning leaves. No burning, just bagging and lugging to the alley.

3. My Mom rakes a pile against the house to cover her flower beds, and fertilize them.

I used to joke that if it weren't for weeds I wouldn't have any ground cover at all. Now, the drought did away with even the weeds, and all I water are the arborvitae around the perimeter. So, there is dirt. Just dirt.

like being covered in leaves. Adults should be required to partake at least once a year.

all the fathers on the street would rake all the leaves on the street down to the corner and make a huge pile for all the kids to jump in. There was probably over 30 kids. After the kids were done playing in them, the dads would pick the leaves up, put them into huge trash barrels and burn them. Of course we kids got to toast marshmallows. This was back in the '60's, in the City. No garages, on street parking only.

7. Sounds like fun. We used to make forts in them. We'd use the wooden tree covers

and fences sections to give them some structure. Of course you couldn't jump in them once they were a fort.

9. Burning leaves smell. Here in the NW, we've had that in spades.

Stagnant air and multiple wildfires in the region has resulted in me renaming my city from Spokane to Smokane.

I love going to weatherunderground and seeing the current conditions as "Smoke".
