(43,289 posts)But I rarely buy one and never bake one. Blueberry, Coconut custard, cherry, lemon meringue, apple, mince-apple.
You ask a lot of questions around here, are you part of Big Data?

(43,289 posts)The question was a bit of light sarcasm, and I think it's been taken in a different way than intended. Of course I know she's not part of Big Data. I'm not saying there are too many questions. My apologies to any offended by my subtle humor.

In the cake category I like cheesecake. For pie I love marrionberry, cherry, apple crunch, chocolate, key lime, and pumpkin. Pie equals bliss.

Nothing like a homemade apple or cherry or blueberry pie or homemade chocolate cake.

Now Im getting hungry!

(59 posts)My mother had a lemon poppyseed cake with a lemon glaze that was kind of her thing to make when taking things to friends houses. It was a childhood fave...

And it is definitely puhkahn pie

(1,404 posts)cobbler is on the pie side, so it's no contest. The side with home-made peach cobbler wins.

(5,157 posts)Umm... I have to say cake. Five layer chocolate like my grandmother used to make. Or her pineapple upside down cake... or her angel food cake... or... (I had this weird situation in my combined family. My mother's mother was the confectionist, but was not the best 'meat and potatoes' preparer, and my father's mother was the opposite. She did not do many desserts, but her biscuits were a dessert in themselves...)

(22,270 posts)However, I do not make very good pie. I don't quite have the knack for crust; the filling is no problem
I do bake very nice cakes though and enjoy doing it. My mom taught me to bake cakes from scratch when I was 12 - she let me bake all the Christmas cakes: German Chocolate, Coconut and Blackberry Jam with caramel frosting.
Cake is always tasty but in a restaurant I will get pie.

(17,216 posts)I even had my mother make cherry pie for my birthday. But when it became hard to find canned cherries in supermarkets, we switched to angel food cake with vanilla coconut frosting. That's good stuff, too.
Then again, I had creme brulee topped with assorted berries in a restaurant the other day. The berries were enormous and numerous, and the creme brulee was great. That falls into the "custard" category, apparently.
(I can recommend the Capital Grille in Pittsburgh if your pocketbook can stand it. The lobster bisque was outstanding)
