Between work and school I don't have much free time now days. Most of my school work time is spent on this damn finite mathematics class I'm taking. I'm doing well in there, but it is time consuming even when you know what you are doing. With class time and homework I'm probably spending about 12 hours a week on that class. And it's a 3 credit hour class! In contrast, I'm taking a business writing course right now as well and I probably don't spend more than 4 hours a week on it, and it's a writing intensive 3 credit hour class.
The good news is that there will be no more math classes after this one. I think besides a science class, I can pretty much focus on my major after this semester. I'm still looking at about 3 more years going part time. My mantra now days is, "It's going to be worth it. It's going to be worth it. It's going to be worth it."

(53,410 posts)Be very honest with yourself and don't overtax yourself. If you need to drop one course in order to do your absolute best in all the other courses then that is your maximizing limitation. Because when you work within your limitations there is absolutely nothing you can't accomplish in the end. If you try to push yourself beyond your limitations you will do poorly and probably fail.
This is why the tortoise won in the end. He knew his limitations while the hare never bothered to consider that he even had limitations.

(10,418 posts)And even though I've got a lot on my plate this semester with work and school, I'm keeping pace.
On edit: I just need that extra day for beer drinking. My consumption has been seriously hampered by my current schedule.

(53,410 posts)May I suggest that you take vitamin B1 every morning. Just the B1 by itself. It's quite cheap and you can find it in any drugstore or Safeway. You'll feel you brain working at it's optimum every day. You'll really notice the difference, especially when you're using it so many hours a week. It might even help you with the math.

(6,581 posts)I haven't regretted either of my two degrees or my professional certification, even though I haven't done much (well, you of all people know). Education is always worthwhile. And I have every confidence you can do this. And yes, some of the requirements try your patience, but when they are done, they are done. After graduating from Michigan State with almost 220 credits, about 40 more than required, when I went back for a BA in political science at the local commuter college, they decided everything I took didn't fulfill THEIR version of a humanities requirement, even though it satisfied Michigan State's humanities requirement. So they made me take Art History 101. And I really enjoyed the subject matter even though I absolutely hated the herd class of 400 people, felt awkward that I was in my 30s when most of them were 18 and 19 year old kids, and a little disgusted at the professor who talked down to the class as if it were a middle school classroom. But I got a 4.0 in that class as well, and I did learn a lot about art through the Renaissance.

(10,418 posts)It's listed as Math 118 Finite Mathematics. A freshman math class? C'mon, I've had up through calculus! But now I understand why they wanted me to take it, and just because it's a 100 level course it doesn't mean it's easy. I took a couple of introductory economics classes last semester and they were pretty tough, too.
Anyway, I'm majoring in business administration and this class is all about the mathematical models I could run across out there in the real world.

(47,675 posts)It might have a minor impact on the Mayan calendar, but it won't last long since we're all going to die anyway.

(10,418 posts)Or, maybe Sunday should be Beerday and the extra day should follow and be called Aspirinday.
Either way, I need some time with Samuel Adams.
