(2,829 posts)I was going to choose another Tom Lehrer song but decided not to. Having grown up listening to Dr Demento in the 70's I was always into the weird stuff.
Barnes and Barnes, Weird Al, The Dead Milkmen, ect. The old Rhino Records used to put out some novelty collections that I still have.
The more offensive the more I liked it.
This one is not too bad.

(2,455 posts)So much of Frank's work could be considered "Novelty" music, he even released an album titled "Does Humor Belong in Music?"
So many to choose from, I went with this fun little ditty...

Further references can be found in the opening line of the chorus: "Whizzing and pasting and pooting through the day". "Whizzing" referred to Kenny's need to urinate in jars because he and Mothers of Invention saxophone player Jim "Motorhead" Sherwood were living in a garage on the Williams property, one which lacked plumbing. The results were "Kenny's little creatures on display", a reference to what Zappa described in a 1987 interview with Rolling Stone as "mutant tadpoles" which had appeared over time in the urine and could be seen swimming in it. "Pasting" is a reference to another part of the song which states that Ronnie saved his "pneumies" on a bedroom window, described rather bluntly in the song as "dysentery green". During the aforementioned Rolling Stone interview, Zappa related how the mess was soon discovered by the boys' mother. So thick was the dried mass that removal required "chisels and Ajax". "Pooting" refers to the act of flatulating.

(43,198 posts)It low-key slaps with the keyboard and guitar work, even though its lyrics are just listing off different sea creatures and assigning them various sounds.
It's just a great song, period.

(2,455 posts)The suite consists of the following three songs:
1. Norwegian Wood - re-styled as "Norwegian Jim", the words describe the encounter of Swaggart with a prostitute. An amusing insertion is the repetition of a riff from Leonard Bernstein's song "I Feel Pretty" from "West Side Story."
2. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - re-styled as "Louisiana Hooker with Herpes" with appropriate lyrics.
3. Strawberry Fields Forever - re-styled as "Texas Motel", but the refrain changes constantly.
Zappa targets, in addition to Swaggart, fellow evangelists Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, as well as Reagan administration figures, John Poindexter and Edward Meese. The last two are usually referenced at the end of some incomprehensible lyric (often from the original song) as "actual testimony" probably meant as a reference to the less than candid public testimony of these figures at the Iran-Contra hearings in 1987.
You're welcome!
