Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsA silly question for the technically more savvy than I (which ain't hard)
I'm applying online for an apartment, and they want a picture of my ugly mug (why?). Thing is, I ignore all tech I don't use, and selfies have never been on my list.
I have an iPhone, which takes pictures somehow (I don't know how to do it). And I understand there are ways to get the resulting picture onto my computer so I can send it to those who wish to admire it. Which I also don't know how to do.
If someone with more knowledge (and interest!) could advise me, I'd know more today than I knew yesterday.

(2,047 posts)As I'm probably even less tech savvy than you. BTW, I wonder if they want your picture to check your race, which I don't think is allowed.

(36,827 posts)We were traveling in my vintage small airplane and were at an airport in Arizona getting fuel. While we were in the small terminal I was paying for the fuel and my daughter was on the couch fiddling with her iPhone as usual. An older guy was sitting across from her and asked how to do something on his iPhone and my daughter helped him out. After he left the people there started laughing and I asked why. Neither my daughter or I knew this guy from Adam, but apparently he was Bill Bidwell, owner of the Cardinals at the time. They were laughing at what a Luddite he was and that neither of us recognized him. Evidently everyone in Arizona knew who he was.

(1,757 posts)use that to open the camera. When it opens an image on your phone will appear that shows what the camera is looking at. That is typically what you would be looking at as well. There is a circle made of two arrows in the bottom right corner, touch that circle. You should now see your face as you look at the camera. That circle flips the camera from one side of the phone to the other (if you touch the circle again the image will once again show what you are looking at through the phone, if you will.)
The large white circle is used to take a picture. Touch that and a new image will appear in the bottom left corner. Touch that image and it becomes the main image on the phone. If you place the tip of your finger on that image and let go the image has edges that turn white and have options to do things. A trash can will appear in the bottom right corner. Edit will appear in the top right. For now look at the bottom left corner. There is a box with an arrow coming out of it. Touch that and more options will appear. Most likely 'Air drop, Messages and mail' should appear. If you touch message you can send the image to a phone number or contact via text messaging. If you the envelope image you can send the image via email to an email address. You can email the image to yourself and then send it on with your computer or just type the address, subject and message on you phone and send it that way.
If you choose to send it via text tap the green message box. Your image will appear with the place to enter a phone number or contact. if you tap the image a message box will open underneath the image and you can send words along with the picture. You can send the image and a worded texts in two texts if you want as well so people don't just get a picture with no context.
