1. We got our first real snow here in Northeastern New York over the weekend. I guess that means that winter is here.

I grew up with a cocker spaniel since my Dad did, and I have since adopted three others, seniors from rescue. When I lost my Barney at age 18 or 19 (I adopted him at age 10 or 11 and had him for 8 years), I thought my other dog might be lonely, so I called about an 8-year-old cocker. I was told that dog had been placed, but this nice girl in rescue said she knew of a dog in real trouble, his owner had died. That's how I became a small dog person, he was a Brussels Griffon and now I've had two. My Jack was a pet shop rescue, adopted him at five months:

And he doesn't like to ride in the car, he's too short to look out the window, but he's happy when he knows we're going home.

that when a snow storm rocks the midwest, even at lower latitudes than us, that by the time it reaches SW Ohio it's always in the 40s and comes down as rain. Maybe I exaggerate some, but I swear it seems to always work out that way, and that's the forecast for this time as well. Omaha gets ten inches and we get slush. Never fails. Well, no shoveling, I guess.
