anybody familiar with liquid-fuel camping equipment?

what KIND of oil do you use to oil the leather/plunger cup/whatever you call it?

I always just used vegetable oil because it was handy, but there is no specs anywhere on the colman instructions I can find, and I just bought a repair kit (yes $9 for a bunch of parts I don't need so I could get a new leather - thanks coleman or walmart ) and was curious.

The kind I buy at the pharmacy.

I've used it on old-fashioned hand pumps too.

"Leather pump cups can be reconditioned by removing the pump plunger from the tank, spreading out the cup with your thumb and soaking the cup in a good leather oil such {as}, ball-glove oil, or mink oil for about 20 minutes. The soaking expands the pump cup allowing it to seal against the pump body."

such as sewing machine oil, 3 in1 oils or fishing reel oil. Flattening the leather is a good idea. perhaps warming in a micro will also help.
