I don't know what for yet.
On the front of the envelope it says "You've been Pre-Selected".
I haven't opened it yet
I'm just enjoying the anticipation right now.
What does that mean?
It must be better than just 'Selected', right?
I mean, if you're PRE selected, doesn't that mean that you can get into line in front of all the others who have been only 'Selected'?
I sure hope so.
I like to be in the front of the line.

(54,256 posts)You're exactly right.
This is uncanny.
Wow.
Discover card.
I already have one.
Why do they want me to have two?
I just don't understand.

(47,675 posts)Then the unopened envelope makes a nice little journey with the empty cereal boxes and toilet paper tubes to that great paper shredder in the sky.

(23,320 posts)They give you a postage-paid envelope because they want it back. If you don't return it, you're stealing their envelope and the postage they paid for.
Being a Democrat and pathologically honest, I ALWAYS return the postage-paid envelope. Of course, I also include the rest of the crap that came with it--finely shredded (all they have to do is put it back together--some assembly required. )--and maybe a spare lead fishing weight or two to make sure they get their money's worth on the postage they're paying.....

(47,675 posts)Most of the basic junk mail just goes in for recycling. And careful, shipping lead can be considered "hazardous materials".

(54,256 posts)I didn't know I was SUPPOSED to return the envelope.
I better get on it.
Thanks.

(33,600 posts)of retro-actively?
trof
(54,256 posts)It seems to me that being retro-actively selected would be that they selected you AFTER they ahd already PRE-selected, AND selected the one they really want.
THEN they see there are still a few slots open, so you get 'retro-actively' selected.
I think it's a slap in the face and a black mark on your record.
It's like being the fat kid and always being chosen last for baseball.
"Aw jeez...OK, I'll take the fat kid."

(27,247 posts)It was such a SUPER deal! I would immediately be given a $1000 credit line-- no questions asked! All I had to do was agree to pay the $400 in fees and service charges, which would be deducted from my credit line, when the first bill came. If I chose not to pay the entire bill at once, then I would only be charged 29.9% APY interest for the balance, retroactive to the posting date! And if I wasn't able to pay any of the bill on time, then I would also get charged a "nominal" late fee of "only" $35-- which would also be deducted from my credit line.
It was such a great deal, I don't know why I tore the letter to pieces and threw it in the fireplace!

(36,827 posts)I threw away a credit card one time, so I've learned to feel for what's inside before I chuck it, but for those most part it works well.
