(55,026 posts)it can stay green for two months or more but usually less and sometimes it really feels like only a couple weeks.
no, half of pond is fenced off for management purposes - wildlife, bad fence on the other side, etc. We get tons of ducks and geese and the occasional cranes, other shore birds in there especially in the fall.

one of the peaches that was on my young tree, devoured along with all of the leaves:

He had an ENORMOUS lump of a Colorado River Toad that was absolutely motionless until we dangled a little
pinkie mouse over it. It would strain upward while opening its HUGE WIDE mouth and envelop the mouse --
then settle back down. I don't remember EVER seeing it move except for that mousechomp.
