I can't possibly live with Republicans for the next few months...

or ever, for that matter. But I need to find a new housing situation in San Diego asap, and that's not the type of thing you can really put in a Craigslist ad.

Seriously, anyone in San Diego who knows of any possibilities with Dem/lib/progressive folks, please pm me. I'd prefer North County Coastal, but might consider other areas. Thanks.

1. Depends on the age range you're willing to live with -- I went to UCSD

undergrad and know many grad students who shared apartments, houses, etc...

Seemed to me that the area around UCSD, Del Mar, Solana Beach wasn't all that bad or political.

Good luck. Check the local papers, too, to see if anyone is renting space. I haven't lived there in about 20 years so I can't be much help.

The problem is that something like political affiliation is not generally one of the first things you discuss with or ask of a potential roommate or landlord. So you go through a lot of legwork before you can even surreptitiously raise the matter and check out the person's political views.

You might try the "wanted" categories and post your own wish for housing with liberal/progressive peeps.

On edit: any listing that mentions being "4.20 friendly" is probably more likely to NOT be a Republican.

7. Update: I can't possibly live with Republicans for the next few months...

Well, about a week after I had written the original post, I decided to be pro-active and place my own "housing wanted" ad on Craigslist -- instead of merely responding to others' ads for rentals. I went on for several paragraphs about what I wanted, then, in the final paragraph, wrote that while it may cut down the number of responses, I needed to disclose that I'm active in Democratic politics and it would be uncomfortable for everyone concerned if I were living in a place blaring Fox News all day long and with anti-Obama cartoons on the refrigerator.

I got responses right away and arranged to rent a place within a few hours of placing the ad.
