Elton John does not like Madonna.

Elton John SLAMS Madonna: She Looks Like a “Stripper” and Her “Career is Over”

“She’s such a nightmare,” John tells Molly Meldrum of Australia’s Channel 7, calling Madonna’s tour a “disaster.”

He adds, “And it couldn’t happen to a bigger (insert four letter "c" word).”

John also observed that she’s been “horrible” to his son’s godmother, Lady Gaga, and has looked silly trying to compete with performers like Rihanna and Katy Perry.

“If Madonna had any common sense, she would have made a record like Ray of Light, stayed away from the dance stuff, and just been a great pop singer and made great pop records, which she does brilliantly,” says John. “But no, she had to prove that she [could do it all]… and she looks like a f**king fairground stripper.”

Now she just sucks. She's basically one of those fading try-hards that refuse to go away, and instead become annoying, trying to appeal to this generation but failing miserably at it.

After watching the halftime show,
it was obvious she couldn't keep up with her backup dancers..
and it was obvious she was 'lip synching...'-
I concur: she needs to hang up her cone bra,
and attempt to age gracefully like other singers...
Debbie Harry,
Tina Turner,
Hall and Oates..
Paul McCartney...
Barbara Streisand

You get more respect in the long run if you admit you are maturing,
and move into your true self.
I'm sure her teen age daughter would agree...

and I thought THAT was being too catty!

I agree with Elton in principle: Madonna was conceived in the "music video pop tart" era, which substituted sex appeal, youth, controversy, and constant visual re-invention for actual talent. When her youth ran out, and she found she couldn't subsist on her voice alone, she had to resort to quasi-porn like Truth Or Dare, and PR stunts like French kissing her daughter Britney Spears (oops, I did it again!), performing from a crucifix, and most recently, inserting swastikas in her concert videos.

In view of Elton's family connection to Lady Gaga, however, it's possible that his tirade is actually stealth support of her, particularly since she herself is being infringed upon by the likes of Niki Minaj and Keisha. When the time comes, here's hoping that he'll advise Gaga to retire from the "social networking pop tart" era and transition into a more substantial musical style.

I pretty much wrote her off after that scene in her movie where Kevin Costner pays her a compliment and she starts gagging after he leaves the room. That and her book "Sex," which was my turn to gag.

Makes me think everything Sir Elton said above fits like a glove.

Everything he said.

Madonna has a lousy voice. If you're gonna be a singer, you need to have a great voice. She has made up for it by changing her costumes and dancing.

She is not one-tenth the singer and musician that Lady Gaga is.

and I am a bit younger than Elton John!!

Until them my money is with Madonna. According to the critics she's been 'done' for the last couple of decades and yet she's still cranking out the hits and selling out her tours.

I'm a big fan of Madonna!

All hype with very little talent backing it up. The definition of style over substance.

But hey, obviously plenty of people like her, so what do I know

Madonna should have stayed in the "Ray of Light" vein - that's the only one of her albums I own - because well-done techno/electronica pop is a far easier genre to age gracefully into. Gaga has a much better voice and is a better songwriter. I can't see Madonna hanging effortlessly (or at all) with the likes of Tony Bennett. Gaga did it superbly and with real style.
