The other day I saw about the last hour of "Pretty in Pink".
I didn't like it at all. What the hell, I was rooting for the duckman.
Anyway, I thought I would share this before I throw out the little paper where I wrote this down. The ages of the actors and actresses in that movie, who were playing high school kids.
Molly Ringwald - 18
Jon Cryer - 21
James Spader - 26
Andrew McCarthy - 23
Kate - 25
and finally
Annie Potts - 34
In that twist of irony, I thought Annie was also a high school kid, or maybe college age. In the movie, she dressed like a teenage punk. So in the scene where Cryer calls her an attractive older woman, I didn't get it, and then she says she got him in the bar by saying that he was her son. Well, given their real ages, she wasn't really old enough to be his mom.
I am sure this will come as a shock to many, that actors in teen movies are not really teenagers, but there it is.
Except for Molly. She really was 16 in Sixteen Candles.
