Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsThe 10 worse beers as decided by DU - which is the worst
I went thru that Worst Beer ever thread (over 200 replies) and I found that these were the 10 beers mentioned the most as the Worst Beer ever.
Only voting on those beers listed which is the absolutely worst beer as decided by DUers. Pleases try to make your judgement based on beers you've actually tasted.

I vote, "Yes".

(95,337 posts)So we just want to focus on these 10 and pick which one is the worst!

(23,973 posts)I love them all, for different reasons, but love them just the same.
I fucking despise every "beer" on that list, each for a different reason, but to me, they are all swill unfit for human consumption.
I stand by my vote.
So there, you big meany.

(14,738 posts)Well, as long as it's not Greene King IPA, a beer that's an abomination on so many levels.

(3,109 posts)Normally I would have chosen Bud as the worst, but since Schaeffer's was included, I had to go with that as the worst beer on the list. I can finish a bottle of bud, but if the option is Schaeffer's, I'll not drink at all.

(5,364 posts)Miller 'Lite" or Michelob Ultra is no doubt the worst. Too bland and watery. Many of the other non-light beers on your list at least taste like beer but with varying tastes or styles, even if they are cheaply made ( and taste it )

(16,311 posts)When I was young there was a beer made in downtown phx called A1, it cost 99 cents per six pack and it was just awful.
My current faves are mirror pond, stranger and dig by new belgium (now out of season).

(13,992 posts)They started screwing with their recipes (likely as a cost-containment strategy) and they really effed up some beers like PBR and Schlitz. They were fabulous (IMHO) to begin with, but they really went into the toilet after that. Schlitz tried to relaunch the brand as a retro-thing with the original recipe a few years back. Not sure what kind of success they're having.
PBR is having something of a renaissance I'm told (again, those wacky retro-hipsters).

(95,337 posts)Sam: I'm composing this as I try valiantly--or foolishly--to finish the second bottle of Iron City. Say it with me: ARNFUCKIN'CITY!! We drank this gleefully when we were dumbass college kids, even though it tasted horrid back then as well, because it was $1.99 a six pack. Well, I saw this on the shelf this afternoon, and remembering dimly there was some discussion about the "new" aluminum bottle, I shelled out $6.99 for a sixer (much to my embarrassment). I drank the first one from the bottle. Oof. Just as acrid and chemical as I remember. This beer is best choked down ice-the-hell cold, if at all. Without warning her ahead of time, I offered my long-suffering wife a sip. She immediately wrinkled her nose, then I swear she tried to run away from the flavor. She chugged the rest of her bottled water, then called me several nasty names I can't repeat on such a family-friendly website. She threatened not to let me in the house with the rest of the six-pack, but I plied her with a Real Ale Full Moon Rye Pale Ale, and she relented. I'm staring at the remainder of the second beer, glaring back at me a malevolent shade of jaundice in my beer glass, and I'm telling you friends, I'm pretty sure I'm pouring it out. The aluminum bottle touts how it'll keep it colder and crisper; well...colder maybe, but there's nothing "crisp" about this beer. It's somewhat appalling. And please don't tell anyone what I payed for this travesty. (9/24/2005)

(95,337 posts)But no brand had enough votes to top those that made the top 10.
Are you questioning the refined palattes of your fellow DU posters?

(14,738 posts)....then I'm sure that Greedy Kerching IPA would have made the list.
Trouble is, Greedy Kerching IPA is not actually an IPA. It's a rubbish bitter.

(12,471 posts)Because it comes in a clear bottle, and is most susceptible to skunking. AFAIK, all of the others are in cans or brown bottles, and therefore light cannot enter, and make the hops flavor turn into skunk.
Though I cannot say that I like any of these beers, most are American Light Lagers. These are the hardest beers to make, for the simple fact that they have less inherent flavor. If something goes wrong in brewing, there's a flavor that does not belong in this type of beer. For that reason alone, I have to hand it to many of these brewers, especially Budweiser, because they can consistently make a beer with no flavor taste the same. In Bud's case, they can make ginormous quantities of beer, in many breweries world wide, and they all taste the same. This is a quite remarkable achievement. I don't have to like it, to realize this.
canuckledragger
(1,641 posts)I tend to avoid most american beers if i can..
I've come to the opinion that most of the 'big name' beers don't take any real care or pride in the making of any more (yes, that includes our most famous export, Molsen Canadian...horrid stuff!)
Most have jiggered their recipes to make them as cheap as possible, too many chemicals, etc. (I remember hearing somewhere that Molsen even changed the Canadian recipe to use rice now as a cost saving maneuver)
I WILL highly recommend Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale though...made straight outta Nova Scotia.
Lovely stuff...full flavoured, no back taste (or headache after 1 or 2 like you get from the really cheap ones)
I have no sympathy for what what happened to the commercial spokesperson for them (he got caught with & posting child porn)
but the commercials were still funny as hell!

(3,521 posts)But there are many truly wonderful beers made in the US. Unfortunately, many are distributed only locally or regionally. Here in Wisconsin we have Sprecher, New Glarus, Lakefront and several others. All make very good beer. It is too bad if you don't see them up north.
