I had a tetanus shot last October and it had whooping cough vaccine as well. Good idea, imo.

Tetanus is usually every ten years, so go get a DPT from your provider. DPT is diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus.

I can't remember what I had as a tetanus shot last decade, but at the Doctor's last week I mentioned that I was due for one, and he recommended the TDAP. Arm was sore for about two full days afterwards, but no other ill effects. Since I work on farms quite a bit, I'm glad to be up to date again.

And they should tell you because it is signed consent. Due to the increase in pertussis cases, they are recommending adults have boosters, along with tetanus.

Most adults can handle pertussis or whooping cough, but they could inadvertently pass it on to an infant that is not fully immunized yet, and that can be life threatening to the infant.
