Weird, I remembered my password after 8 years.

I'm not sure how this happened, but I randomly stopped by DU this afternoon after not coming here since around 2004 (at least that's the most recent of my posts that I could find). I still remembered my password! Very weird. I'll have to see who's still around since those days...

You missed the reign of terror when I spent four years moderating. Just joking about the first half of that sentence.

I am feeling better. Right now, it's a matter of regaining strength and the ability to walk distances. Recovering from three weeks in the hospital and a rehab unit takes time.

that sent me to ICU for a couple of days when I went into multiple organ failure. Everything seems to be working now, though.

I'm doing very well, thanks! My life is drastically different now, but ultimately for the better. I have two beautiful little girls, and while they don't live with me, they are amazing beyond words. I did get un-married to their mother two years ago, so I'm no longer living up in Rogers Park. Being newly single, I moved back to Humboldt and have completely re-invented my life. I have a great gig at a local college, I'm playing music again, and having a great time. To be honest, as horrifically painful as it was, I really love my life now.

How are you?

I was recently seriously ill and spent three weeks in the hospital and a rehab unit. But I am home now and getting lots of physical therapy.

That's good news that you have re-invented yourself and have a good relationship with your daughters.

I'm very sorry to hear that you were so ill! I hope you have a smooth recovery. Physical therapy can be a real bear.

As for my re-invention, I didn't have much of a choice. I really fell apart for a while, but I had a great psychologist who helped me come out the other end of it a much stronger person.

My older daughter seems to have taken it the best, though. Her quote when I explained that I was moving out: "Wait, so does this mean I have toys at your house, too?" Followed by cheering and dancing. She's had her moments of sadness, but she was so little that it kind of went over her head.

It's great to see that you're still here! Btw, my roommate was at party last week when Will Ferrell showed up -- he kept to his group of friends, though, so my roommate didn't have a chance to talk to him. Weird, eh?
