(19,326 posts)if I only use peripheral vision to look at it, which is a trippy thing to do,
there are all kinds of things going on that disappear and/or are fixed and
not moving, if I look directly at my screen.
I used to work with autistic children around 10 y.o. and one of them named
"Timmy" LIVED in his peripheral vision we discovered. Whatever he seemed
to be "looking at" with his rather blank stare, was NOT what he was paying
attention to, he was actually looking at everything around him all the time it
seemed.
I wonder if this phenomenon has a name?

I notice some family resemblance among a few of them. Are some of the related?

"now, read the taxi please?"
According to my sister-in-law, that means "Call me a taxi, please" but she's from the Tokyo area. Maybe it's a dialectal misunderstanding?

(20,776 posts)Yonde can have several meanings..for example yonde imasu can mean reading. Its the "te" form of yomu (to read). hon wo yonde imasu ka = are you reading the book?
Another way to say, please call me a cab:
Takushī denwa nite o toiawase kudasai. (note: denwa is phone, or telephoning)
also "to call" : yobi
polite form: yonde kudasai
note: yobi becomes yonde.
Kudasai = please.
