This week's True Blood Recap or 'How to impress a guy by puking on his shoes'

Hello True Blooders I'm back. I wanted to watch TB again before posting although this time I watched it On-Demand so I could watch what was really good and skim thru what kinda bored me.

I know TB fans around the world cried 'NO FAIR' when Sookie finally hooked up with Alcide and Alcide didn't take his shirt off. Let's face it, a week without a shirtless Alcide is like a week without a yummy, creamy hot fudge sundae with whip cream, cherry and rainbow sprinkles - yummy yummy! So this week's episode started off hot & heavy as Sookie finally got busy with Alcide. After carrying Sookie upstairs they start stripping each other and then Sookie does the ultimate - after a night of drinking a mixed barrage of fruity, minty liquors she then proceeds to puke on Alcide shoes. What makes it extremely amusing - she did it while Bill and Eric were standing in the doorway watching. How fucked up is that! Then again who wouldn't want 3 hot men chasing after them? Who knows if Biric (Bill + Eric) were watching in the doorway the entire time or perhaps they could sense that Sookie was about to get all sick and decided to come to the 'rescue'. But it was hilarious as hell and a welcome comedic moment after 4 weeks of doom and gloom.

But Bill and Eric were there for a reason - they had one night to find Russell Edgington else they would be staked (there's an app for that). And their only clue was one of Alcide's employees who helped an unknown vampire dig out Russell from his cement tomb. Unfortunately after helping that same employee was then glamored to forgot what was done. So Bill & Eric needed the help of Sookie to reach deep into his brains and figure out who rescued Russell.

Clearly the writers are trying to put the blame on Nora. I loved how they showed it was definitely a woman with some symbolic bat necklace being worn and she definitely had dark hair. But the face was obscured so naturally Bill opted to blame Nora and thus Eric (her sibling) for the Russell fiasco except Eric swears he didn't tell a soul. Thing is this - the powers who run TB were smart enough to cast 2 brunettes who are about the same build and both wearing the same necklace - Nora and her very close friend and fellow chancellor Salome.

Now here's what I want to backtrack on - everytime we see Nora we see her wearing the necklace. We have also seen Salome wear the necklace but I'm interested to see if Salome wore the necklace anytime she was around Bill or Eric. Plus lately anytime you see Salome on TB she looks like she has some sort of guilt she's trying to hide especially when she's around the Guardian Roman and Nora together. And I like how it was Salome that ordered Bill & Eric to be staked if they didn't find Russell by dawn. I think she knows that if Russell is found then she might be outed as the one that helped him escape. My guess is this - Salome is the progeny of Russell Edgington.

I have to admit that I'm starting to question what they are doing with Roman. I did like at the end how Roman was giving a speech while showing all the stuff happening around town like Sam/Luna being shot and Bill, Eric & gang looking for Russell. But lately Roman has been all about speeches and honestly, a lessor actor and I think the Guardian part would be ruined. I just hope they find other uses for Christopher Meloni because I would like his character to continue after this season. Meloni is a talented actor let's not waste this opportunity.

FINALLY!!!

RUSSELL, well a really weak Russell but my gawd he is still as deviously delightful as ever. Of course who else here was annoyed that when they found Russell they just didn't rush in there and stake him. Seriously, if I knew there was a 3000 year old impossible to kill vampire out to get me as soon as I saw his bedridden ass I'd just rush in there and stake him. Perhaps shoot him with some of those microwave fairy fingers so he's immobile but then kill him. Don't reminisce first, don't ask things like 'Do you remember me' just put the damn stake in and be done with it - live long and prosper. But this is TV and we don't do the Captain Obvious here but instead we draw it out so instead of it being a safe situation we have more drama to follow next week and that includes more werewolves probably v-fueled. THe sad thing is some of the familiar weres that followed Russell are dead- Cooter, Gus and Debbie but there are plenty others to the rescue. But I had a thought - what if Debbie isn't really dead? I mean she was blown away in the head like Tara and since she probably has a ton of Russell's blood in her he would know when she was in danger even if he couldn't rescue her. What if Debbie was saved too and perhaps becomes this were-vamp hybrid? THat would be a delightful twist to this storyline!

Other Vampires

Anyone notice the maternal look that Pam had on her face when Tara walked into the room all 'vamped' up in Vampire Couture? I think Pam has a mini-battle going on because on one side she's a maker and she really wants to do a great job the way her maker Eric did. But on the other hand it's Tara who really helped to fuck up her face there last season and piss her off so many ways. If Pam wanted to be a maker I don't think Tara would have been her first choice. So there is Pam looking all Maternal and Tara being well, Tara - full of piss. And Tara tells Pam 'if I wanted to dress in drag I'd raid Lafayette's closet' - what a hoot!!!

I loved how they paired Jessica and Tara up as best buds. It was really cool but of course that lasted only about 20 minutes into the show until Tara decides to feed on Hoyt. Tara has alot to learn about Vampire politeness; however I hate to say this - I don't want Hoyt and Jessica to get back together. I love the new Jessica who has really found her stride and having fun with best bud Jason (who was once best buds with Hoyt). If the writers are smart they should just glamor Hoyt so he can start a new storyline and move on with Jessica.

BTW Vampires can smoke? I'm guessing last week Jessica was smoking the weed (and that Bill has done so too). I mean I figured vampire lungs were as dead as their hearts. GO figure.

Where was Steve Newlin? I miss him.

Ok who else here loved the flashback that Jason had - one of the best ones ever if you ask me. It was back to when the parents were alive and there was Ma & Pa Stackhouse at the table eating Special K with 6 year old Sookie and grown up jason in his He-Man Master of the Universe Jammies - boy he made those look Sexy! But I about pissed myself laughing when his mom, with blood spurting from her vampire wounds into the Special K cereal, ask Jason what is wrong and that he should just get a blow job to make it all better.

Once again it was a good week for Arlene - only one scene and that was classic Arlene stumbling into the Bellefluer mansion living room seeing a naked Andy asleep on the sofa. I guess both Jason and Andy ended up naked after a night of partying with the Faeries.

Like Roman, a lessor actor would totally be ruining Lafayette but somehow Nelsan Ellis is pulling off the crazy shit they are having Lafayette do this year. Any other actor I would probably be fastforwarding the scene like a Terry/Arlene or Werepanthar adventure. But thank you for bringing back Alfre Woodward who plays Ruby, Lafayette's crazy-as-a-loon mother. I loved how Jesus head (with sewn mouth) showed up in visions by both Lafayette and Ruby. I think I speak for more TB fans when I say more Miss Ruby. Alfre Woodard is an amazingly talented actress and I'd love to see more scene-chewing juiciness between her and her Lala. Glad to see Jesus back although why he was just a head who knows and really - what happened to Jesus's dead body?

I'm really not sure if I care who killed the shifters. I think way too much is happening this year with TB and that if they wanted to do the 'Supe Killing' storyline that happened in book #5 then perhaps wait til next year. The Russell/Authority storyline is huge and covers at least 3/4th of the man casting. And from what I read with various TB followup at various websites - no one is sorry to see Luna gone. Sure she was hot and her daughter Emma was adorable as the lil baby werewolf. But Luna was getting annoying and honestly they should just clear her off the canvas with a return of Mamma Bozeman to reclaim Emma. Like Steve Newlin, she's another character I miss alot!

Finally, Terry and Patrick (yes I finally remember his name). Well I guess they found their supe for the storyline, an Arab/Persian one named Ifrit (yes you can google it). I did enjoy watching the scenes but when I just wasn't that interested. I mean the storyline is better without Arlene but still not a gamechanger for TB. Maybe Ifrit is just an excuse to get Terry out of the TB cast and put Arlene back to being filler at Merlottes.

That's it for this week!

On my way to work but loved the recap. I remember thinking, as I always do with Alcede, "DAMN, that man's big!" and him carrying Sookie around like a little horney monkey didn't alter that idea a bit. Whoof, that's one fine chest. More! More! I laughed too at Eric and Bill standing there being all hipster vampire. I do think that fang flashing is getting a little too much like bitchy cat-hissing, though.

Loved loved LOVED the "abandoned hospital" stuff. That's one of my favorite stereotypical horror movie scenarios. And I'm glad to see Russell again too.

Loved Tara/Jessica but I'd rather they wreaked a little vampire girl havoc together than just get into a bitchfight over a man. C'mon...Hoyt? Least desirable man on the show. Btw I lol at Andy hearing Sam say they were all shifters like "Ho hum, another day in Bon Temps."

Brilliant Jason flashback. Just brilliant. Hope the dead parents show up some more.

And I love Lafayette like crazy, so I hope his line turns into something good.

Terry still leaves me cold, Ifrit or no. Reminded me too much of LOST. But we'll see.

Great gif! LORD that woman looks good.

Eric and Bill were ready to split up and Sookie reminded them of 2 things -

Every scary movie where the party splits up as they enter the dark scary building usually ends up pretty bad

AND

The only 2 things they have to stop Russell is either sunlight or her microwave magic fingers.

Good going Sookie.

I had to laugh when Dieter commented about Biric visiting a waitress from Bon Temp and buying Coffee and Nutter Butters from a local convenience store.

And I thought surely that employee was a redshirt. Yep, she's smartening up, our Sookie. I'm glad because I was tired of her just feeding vampires and having everyone salivate over her. Too objectifying for me to enjoy her. She seems more like a person these days. Wonder how they're going to work around Paquin's pregnancy.

I forgot to mention Lafayette's mama. I want to see more of Alfre Woodard too, and she'd be smart to work it like crazy!

So, here we wait for dawn and the bombs to go off. Oh, and I LOVE whatsername (senior moment) who's Command Central with those bombs! I love that actress!

Of course they could work into Fifty Shades of Eric Northman...(A Whiter Shade of Pale?)

4. Good to read your review, once again you totally nailed it

One thing though, if vamps, who are just basically animated dead bodies with some sort of consciousness ( as opposed to zombies) can have sex, I would think smoking would be no big deal.

I am not liking the Ifrit SL mostly because it is taking us away from the vamp SL and all that military flashback stuff makes me uber uncomfortable. "Maybe Ifrit is just an excuse to get Terry out of the TB cast and put Arlene back to being filler at Merlottes" I really hope you are right about this.

The shifter shooters might be interesting, but again, TB doesn't need any busy work.

Russell rocks and I can't wait to see the confrontation between he and Roman - and I think you are right-on re: Salome and Russell. That is gonna be a kick. And your idea about Debbie is brilliant.. you should be a writer on this show..

Tara is a hoot.. and I am really liking her as a vamp. She has definitely found her niche. I am loving the dynamic between Pam and Tara and Tara and Jessica but Hoyt really does need to go back to mama. I am still waiting on Lafayette. The demon thing is getting a bit tedious although I love his monologues. And it's possible Jesse still has his spiritual body and that what we saw of his head with lips sewn together was a metaphor of some kind -maybe the big daddy demon or something is keeping him away from Lafayette.

Like you I loved the flashback and Jason in his jammies and TB needs more Ruby, more Steve and more Sookie and Alcide. Also I am loving Andy and Jason when they have their little man-talks about women and faeries and sex, they are both really so innocent. It's a lovely thing.

Thanks once again for your review. This discussion definitely adds to the enjoyment of watching TB.

p.s. By the way, It wouldn't surprise me if we see a little Roman on Russell "long lost lover" action..

7. Here's what I'm thinking with Jesus (and a funny moment overlooked about Lafayette)
Tue Jul 10, 2012, 02:18 PM
Jul 2012

First, Lafayette disappeared from his home at least a day since Jesus was killed. And I'm thinking that it's not that long of a drive to where Jesus family lives in Mexico. They never said what part of Mexico Jesus is from so I checked with google maps - it's about a 12 hour drive from Shreveport, LA to Monterry Mexico, a city that is about an hour from the US border. My guess is that someone in Jesus' family who is part of this Brujo magic was aware that Jesus was murdered. Remember there are alot of spirits floating around there and someone may have told the grandfather that Jesus had died and that Lafayette now inhabited with the Brujo magic. If that is true someone from Jesus family may have not only taken Jesus dead body but decapitated the head and sewn the mouth shut so that Spirit Jesus could not speak to Lafayette. Hence that's why we only saw the head and the mouth was sewn shut.

BTW, how funny was it when Lafayette was praying to all those dieties he has on his religious wall and they all started talking back to him . Again, a lesser actor would have ruined the scene which goes to show what a powerhouse actor Nelsan Ellis has become. That guy is talented as hell - so talented that he saved Lafayette (and his role) from being murdered at the end of season #1 (in the book it was Lafayette dead body found in Andy's car, not the 'voodoo priestess' that tried to cure Tara and her mom.

I usually have to skip your TB threads because I'm never up to speed. I have a hard time with the fella from Oz in this role for some reason, not to mention the Swede from that railroad show.

I loved the scene where Eric Bill and Alcide were arguing and it morphed into a bunch of snarling, lol.

And yes, Jason in those sexy He-Man pjs!! Such a cute scene. Jason is such a cutie pie.

I don't like Tara, never have and I don't see it changing, although who knows, maybe they can do something this season to change my mind.

Was it just me or was that scene between Andy and Sam weirdly written? Andy saying something like "I have to go interview the witness" and talking to Sam like he didn't know him from Adam. I was doing other things while watching, so maybe I misinterpreted, but it sounded weird.

I still LOL about Pam in WalMart sweats.

What railroad show? I'm assuming you're talking about Alexsandar Skarsgaard but not sure of the railroad show.

I think the biggest problem with Meloni right now is that ever single scene he is in he is overly intensified. They need to vary him up a bit. And perhaps a flashback or 2 about how he got where he is and why mainstreaming is so fricking important.

he does come across as a one dimensional zealot who won't survive the mutiny that is coming.

I just don't see where he stands a chance against Russell, unless there's something in that red vial he can use as a secret weapon.

17. I honestly felt like Chancellor Drew's staking was a setup
Tue Jul 10, 2012, 03:27 PM
Jul 2012

Nora had to give Roman a name of someone from Authority that was in cahoots with the Sanguistas. If not Bill & Eric would be staked.

I found it interesting that this week's episode Roman ranted about how Chancellor Drew (that was the 9 year old kid vampire in the Authority) was one of the co-writers of the Vampire Rights Amendments and worked with Roman on mainstreaming vampires. Having said that, wouldn't it be in the Sanguista's best interest to stake those chancellors that advocate abandoning mainstreaming? How convienient it was that the video was found and Drew was staked before he really had a chance to defend himself.

And remember this, although it seems there is always glasses of True Blood beverage handy at the Chancellor meetings we do know that drinking from humans was still done by members of the Authority in private. Remember how Nan Flanigan was snacking on a human in her limo when she saw what Russell Edgington had done on TV. There seems to be alot of this 'do as I say not as I do' in the Authority.

Man that would be too freaky if Russell made Roman or vice versa.

There is one character which I hope to see more of in the coming episodes. Like Anna Paquin, she started out as a child actress. Tina Majorino. In TB she plays the part of the smart alec Molly who is pleasant to both Eric and Bill, but is nonchalant about the fact that she is the techie with her finger on the button to their chestity belts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Majorino

Can never get enough of Alfre Woodward.

Jessica and Tara = Frenemies?

Pam being maternal is a great idea, though as a previous madam, it's really not a stretch for her.

What is it with Andy's naked body? That's like two shows where we had to see parts that we didn't have to see. Can you imagine how many takes it took to get Arlene's hand in the right spot to block the view?

The Terry and Patrick storyline, I really hate those twists where people are frightened enough to make a decision where fate catches up with them, when they never would have made that decision on their own. But it must have some importance in the big picture, because, otherwise, it just eats up reel.

That was too precious.

Tina was also in Big Love as the friend of Bill Hendrickson's oldest daughter. I think at one point she had a crush on her friend but her Mormonism kinda had her wrestling with her sexuality.

I'm sure they put a sock on Chris Bauer (andy) thingamajig. According to an article Rolling Stone wrote a few years ago the men all have socks for their dingaling, except Skarsgaard - he said he prefers going without. However the article was writen before Eric hooked up with Sookie, who happens to be Stephen Moyer's wife (that's Bill). I'm sure they found a sock for those scenes.
