Gymkhana 5: Ken Block Jumps And Drifts At The Same Time

&feature=player_embedded

"San Francisco was absolutely amazing for Gymkhana," said Block. "It's such a unique location for this kind of driving and allowed me to do some things that I never thought I'd ever be able to incorporate into one of my Gymkhana videos-like jumping a table top or doing a jump drift! I'm stoked with how this project turned out and I'm truly a lucky bastard to have been able to do the things I was able to do on the streets of San Francisco. To all of the residents and people who allowed us to make this happen, thank you!"

1. Okay. First of all I didn't think a Fiesta had that kind of suspension - and 650 HP???????

Holy fucking Jesus on a pogo stick! Man that guy can drive. Front-wheel drive is a shitload harder to control in moves like that. He's got it down to a science.

I don't think he drove it off the showroom floor exactly.

Helluva driver!

3. I thought it said "Fiesta" in the intro. I didn't even know they still made those.

I went back and checked. At 0:22 it says "2012 Ford Fiesta HFHV 650 Horsepower 0-60 in 1.8 seconds". It doesn't look big enough to be a Focus even if that was a typo. Still, I didn't know EITHER could do that or how the hell you can pack 650 HP into a 4-cylinder engine (even if it is just the space). And no, you can't get one with that paint job right off the lot.

5. I don't drive like that anymore (and was never that good). And yes, it is a Fiesta.

I looked it up. They still make them on the B-car platform and it definitely looks like the one in the video. But, again, WTF with 650 HP???

6. Huh.

I had no idea. This must be their entire advertising campaign. The one Fiesta I looked at (about 20 years ago) was without a doubt the biggest (smallest?) piece of crap I ever saw from an American manufacturer. The insides of the doors were bare metal.

7. The new one looks pretty cool. Too small for me, but not a bad looker. Not a tissue box.

The original ones were go-carts with Ford logos. They've standardized a lot of the platforms (gee, who would have thunk to go back to Henry's original idea?) and are making some damn good cars now. I've got my eye on the Flex. It's ugly, but it's the only station wagon that ANYONE makes anymore.
