I don't think marijuana will ever be legalized anywhere the cops use it to make cheap arrests. And New York's cops - especially under Ray Kelly - are fond of cheap arrests! Yup. If they catch you with wacky weed they'll push you to the ground and put handcuffs on you.
Pot would have been legal years ago if it didn't have this secondary use as a source of cheap arrests for the cops. It doesn't do any harm, it's rather bland and peaceful, and it's not the "gateway drug" that alcohol is. [center]
