Lotus Notes question - folder design

I'm using Lotus Notes 8.5 for email, and I'm not too familiar with it.

I usually like to create sub-directories separate from my email inbox where I file important emails by various groupings/departments. So, if I get an email from external auditors, I file it under the "D&T" folder for Deloitte & Touche. If I get an email from one of the actuaries, I file it under "Actuarial" And so on & so forth.

If I want to make one folder in my list of 20 folders stand out with a Bold font and/or a different color, how would I go about that? (I'd like to do that so I can switch to that folder at a glance.)

I keep trying "folder design" and that seems to re-design the email views within that folder, but not the actual folder itself.

The help feature seems pretty useless.

Any ideas?

Thanks

No offense intended, but I just couldn't resist.

I use Lotus Notes at work. Unfortunately, I don't know if that is even possible because I don't have time there to play around with the display. I have always found the sub folders adequate for my needs.

Perhaps there is a user forum that might be able to steer you where you want to go?

It will open up a menu where you can figure lots of things in Lotus Notes. I don't think you can set the folders to be different colors, but you can set emails from different senders to show up in different colors. There are also agents you can set up to automatically put your mail in folders.

I use it at work, not at home so I can't remember more detail.

While you can't change the colour of folders you can easily make them show up as bold.
Folders will always show up as bold if they have a new (unread) message in them.
Here's how you can do it:
1. Create a bogus email and save it as a draft.
2. Drag and Drop it into the folder you want to bold.
3. Select the email and hit the insert button to make it show as unread.

Your folder will show as bold and list 1 unread document. You can choose to keep the bogus document or use the insert trick to mark at least one of the 'real' emails as unread.

Hope that helps!
