After more than forty years, I am ready to quit The Today Show.

I really loved Ann Curry's intelligence and grace and, yes, beauty. She didn't deserve the dumping they gave her. Nothing against Savannah Guthrie, but she doesn't have the depth and maturity that Ann does by a long shot. It just sucks. What is the MATTER with NBC?? Keith out, Sarah Palin guesting, and now this.

Sadly, there is no good alternative except Stephanie Miller, so I guess it's me and Mama and Mooks now. Sad, sad, sad,

And personally I don't think she had a thing to do with it. I think you're right but I think it's a foolish response.

He's the reason I don't watch "Today". But Ann Curry? She's awesome. Perhaps they were number one for so long because she was there for fifteen years. The more Matt is on, the less likely I am to watch. He strikes me as being kind of full of himself.

Everything else Palin's been associated has gone bottoms up, after all.

But, I like Curry as well. I really don't watch morning television at all, but it seems such a shame--and has a really nasty sexist flavor to it, IMO.

I have some connections at our local cable studio, maybe I could put in a word.

I understand what you mean about Ann Curry though. I have seen her briefly a few times and she was stellar. Naturally they're getting rid of her.

We called her the flubber. She could not read the news one segment without messing up like 3 times. It was embarrassing! I used to cringe when watching her and think how in the hell did she get this far?

People are comparing it to the Leno/Conan shit, but that's apples and oranges. Conan was good; imo she sucked. I think she still got 10 million for getting canned, too. Not bad at all. She should be a local news anchor.

Pre-programmed pap, meme driving, apology makers and general marketing bullshit. They are possibly the most two or three hours of uselessness in a fairly useless medium.

But that's just me.

you say she has intelligence. That's a big no-no on morning news shows.

Because I got tired of them promoting a BIG, HUGE story...coming up! (commercial) Another spot-story...not the huge story. Then another promo for the BIG HUGE STORY...COMING UP! (another commercial) And so on....more often than not, I had to leave for work before the BIG HUGE story was ever shown.

Now I watch only cable in the mornings.

I quit watching that show that had Jane Pauley, when they more or less got rid of Pauley for Norville.

she was vacuous, uninformed, didn't seem particularly bright or intelligent (but she must have a great degree with good gpa, or she wouldn't have been hired).

She was hired away from MSNBC, and has stayed on the fast track to fame. I was glad to see her leave MSNBC, since that's what I watch in the mornings.

I guess men think she's cute. I can't see any other reason she's on a fast track.

she seems young, lightweight, and, well, cute. Maybe her lack of challenge to Lauer made her acceptable to him. We've got enough cute. Give me mature and lovely any day.
