So a friend and I go to the "big city", well compared to our 780 residents, anything is BIG.
On the way back we stopped at garage sales, at least I didn't spend any money for things I can live without. BUT this lady had rescued a Chi and her pup. But her landlord had a fit.
So guess where the female is now? Yep.
I don't need a fourth fur member room mate. No one seems as startled as I am about taking in another dog, there is a history of it. In fact when our small town started picking up stranded or dumped dogs, mostly pups, if they were real timid or withdrawn or way too malnourished, they didn't stay in the kennels we have behind City Hall. They all found homes, eventually, but all BUT this one had issues, from timid and fearfilled, abuse, neglect, etc. This maybe 2-3 year old female has none of these, she is calm, she is housebroken, she isn't fearful. She just wants to cuddle your neck when held, and is quite content to just sit next to you, close but not pushy. She comes to whistles. Someone has to be heartbroken, but then why was she left on a country road with her pup? But she needs a name.
She needs a name. HELP? She alerted to "Poquito" Little Bit) . Somewhere is her home, but I tell you true, her eyes look deep into my soul and she could win me in a heartbeat. Thankfully, the folks I worked with at City Hall, already have given me a phone number to call for placement. BUT she needs a name. She would be perfect for a homebound senior who just needs to love and be loved. BUT she needs a name. She has great ears, they stand straight and she is "aware". alert.
NO, I have three! The wolf-dog; a rotten Chi-Terrier who is the naughtiest dog in four counties, and a red dachs who was a breeder at a puppy mill. It took 18 months to get the dachs to overcome life in a cage. It would be too unfair to put her into more change, she's 10 now-yep, the "breeders" even gave me her AKC papers. Which reminds me of something to share: I couldn't understand why the dachs was so lethargic, finally realized when you spend your life confined in a metal cage, muscles go flaccid. Weird huh? BUT Now even though she is not an Alpha, she has personality and life in her eyes.
This Chi looks like she has Min Pin in her, long legs and has the black/tan coloring of a Min Pin, BUT the Chi head and face. She needs a name.
Yeah, I'm asking for help.
No, I'm not hysterical about finding her a forever home, of all those whose noses have stayed here, this one has more potential -and the rest all got forever homes. She just needs a name, and I am just plain BLANK.
Idea please? HELP?

(1,013 posts)with Pokey! Oh thankyou.
The timing is actually good. Two "cities" celebrate the 4th together, and Saturday morning I go to help decorate a float, yeah, we have a parade, lasts maybe 90 seconds. BUT also at City Hall is our third low cost rabies clinic. Unless it being near the holiday- we usually have folks from a Branson rescue group come also. Awww we've got a good and caring Mayor. Plus the first pup I fostered here ended up with her son and his pygmy goats. The pup was Great Dane and ????, huge huge puppy, but he loves those little goats! Some folks moved to California, left this pregnant Great Dane inside the home. She died, and two pups survived-yep cannabilizing. Needless to say when the smell got bad, someone noticed and that pup that didn't run off into the woods had NO reason to trust a human. That's typical of the background of the dogs I've fostered. THIS Poquita is nothing like those. Classy little lady. Her forever home is out there, but I always fall a little in love with each one, THIS one will be even harder.
Thankyou nolabear, she responded to Pokey. In fact she walked over and is still lying beside my foot.
Was it Ghandi who said you can judge the character of a nation by how they treat their animals? There's a reason we have to have a third rabies clinic. The first one the vet brought 101 doses and ran out with a long line left. The second one he brought 91 doses and ran out again. Saturday, hopefully all the local dog lovers.... Before Spring we had an outbreak of rabies, mostly skunks-so all of us goofy doglovers, us poor ones especially, are delighted to get them shot for $15.
Thank you once more nolabear, she reacted to a name. Must be close to the one she knows! Thanks Rebel, you inspired nola, and now this little one has a name.

(1,013 posts)Took Poquita/Pokey with me this morning to decorate the float, we also had a third rabies clinic today WITH a rescue group at City Hall. Steve, a real dachsie lover, paid for her to get all but the kennel cough shot. AND one of the rescue group ladies used her cell phone, and sent Pokey's picture to a lady. The lady had called looking for a small breed dog, but they had none. Looks like an elderly lady is absolutely thrilled, enough to pay for Pokey's spaying! It'll take some time to get all the details worked out, but "little bit' has a home, a forever home.
AND everyone seems to really like her new name! Thanks again.
Yep she stole hearts today. They decided they should keep her with them doing the rabies clinic. Two others are also interested if this one doesn't come through.
AND the vet doesn't think she is more than two years old!
-aye, it is a good thing because "Little bit" has some of the most soul-searching eyes, and boy am I a great target.
