Later renamed NFL Europe, which lasted a bit longer. The WLAF produced my favorite team name in any sport, the Barcelona Dragons.

The first football game that I recall watching was Ohio State versus Oklahoma in 1977.

I remember later reading about how Czonka and Kiick, of earlier Dolphins fame, both ran for less yards per carry than their WFL team overall.

I'm sure that I'd seen earlier games, but they didn't stick with me.

Very important when it comes to collective bargaining. The ability to jump to the WFL helped the NFL players free themselves from the shackles of the owners back in those dark ages when most ballplayers had to have a second job in the summer just to make ends meet.
