Hope that is not against any DU rule, but I've always loved this movie.
F you Matt Dillon
I'm still hiding from covid, which means quite a bit of movie consumption lately.

I wish Chris Makepeace had continued his career.

(2,028 posts)I think on Beta; I was still using Beta then, didn't start using VHS until about 1985. And yes, I still have not one, but TWO functioning Beta VCRs as well. Although I haven't actually used any Beta or VHS videotape in several years, so I'm just assuming that they still work. They did the last time I used them. But yes, I remember that movie well. And like you, I have fond memories of it. I still remember some of the lines from it. The kid who introduces Ruth Gordon's character as being "really old, but she acts like a kid." (Was she his aunt? His great aunt? His grandmother? I don't recall.) When the character represented by the "My" in the title asks the character represented by the "Bodyguard" what his father does (meaning for a living), he answered with a shrug: "Watches TV." I remember when Matt Dillon's character reacts to the title character by recruiting and then introducing his new friend as "MY bodyguard". I remember that scene near the end when the two title characters finally get thoroughly fed up with the bullies who are tormenting them and start SERIOUSLY pushing back. Which is a good lesson for us when dealing with the bullies in Washington, D.C., by voting them out of office on Nov. 3. I haven't seen that movie in a long time, but I'll start looking out for it on the movie channels I get on cable.

(2,028 posts)I didn't realize that. When I saw that link I thought it was just a trailer. Sorry about that. I didn't click on the link until after I had posted my response. If you want me to delete that response, ask me and I will.
