I suffer from major anxiety, and I'm looking for something to calm me down. I've heard a lot of buzz about CBD oil. Has anyone used it? If so, how have you used it? Does it work?

(115,806 posts)With cats you can't always tell. I was trying to get my elderly cat to eat more, but he passed away before any effect of the oil was evident. I've heard it works on people but haven't tried it on myself.

(3,616 posts)It seems to work. I use an oil and put it on my hands, and then put some massage gloves on over it. I do this when my hands are particularly painful. It does help!

(26,286 posts)Also suffered from awful anxiety/panic attacks and this has made a very noticeable difference. I take a dropper of high potency full spectrum CBD every morning - more if needed. I also have some slightly less potent CBD I can supplement with, should I need it, during the day. At night I take a CBD capsule that contains also contains Ashwagandha, L-tryptophan and chamomile.

(182,861 posts)Good stuff for anxiety and nerves.
I take it to help me sleep. I also give it to my dog for fire cracker anxiety. I read that Amazon doesn't allow full spectrum CBD products, so find a good and reliable source.

(63,221 posts)It actually helped, but it gave me horrible headaches so I stopped using it and gave it to my mother. I looked it up and certain people just don't react well to it and I guess I was one of them.
I went through a company called "Charlotte's Web", which is supposed to be very reputable (I did some research on it).
It's worth a try, just start out with a small amount at first in case you don't react well to it, as it is on the expensive side.

(21,761 posts)A few things...
1 - CBD - There are tons of claims on what it can do for you. In my expierence using CBD edibles, it is amazing for pain management. It does not cure anything but it does neutralize pain without getting you 'high' or in any other way. I've not expierenced any of the other claims.
Smoking weed - Don't smoke weed.
Edible - These are weird. I get seriously stupid stoned off of these but I also know a lot of people who don't feel much at all. There is a lot I can say about these but I do not reccomend them until/unless you have a good deal of tolerance. Let me know if you want my thoughts.
Vaping weed - I do not recommend vaping any type of oil... I think it is far too early to know if it's safe. For me, it made me cough a shit ton. I vape weed... I have 'The Can'... It's expensive (I paid $400 for mine six years ago, still works perfect though) as are other brands of it's type. A box of metal with a ceramic filament, uprigth in the center, covered in glass that bends 90° and out one side. There is a hose with glass on both sides and the weed goes in the side that plugs into the box. You turn it on and about 5 minutes later you plug in the 'bowl' side with about 1/3 of a joints worth of ground weed. Let sit for a minute and take a hit. Let sit for another minute and repeat... It's good for about 5-7 hits... Once started, you may as well take all hits as it can't be done again. You can smoke the weed but it tastes like shit... And don't smoke weed
This will get you wicked stoned.
What weed to vape - uggg... ok, the short and skinny:
1 - Sativa - I smoke this... In general (no absolutes in my weed talk here)... In general... Very potent, little munchies, little make you tired, little paranoia, little cotten mouth.
2 -Indica - In general... Some munchies, some cotten mouth, very relaxing, little paranoia, also very potent.
3 - Hybrids - Mix and match.
Here in Colorado, i've kept my red card (means I can buy from the medical weed section of shops that have it) even though we are now legal. I did this because the bud tenders (the people who are behind the counter and so much more) on that side actually know what each strain will do to/for you. I can tell them the truth... I want some so when I get home, I shower, start dinner, smoke up, eat, watch some tv with my lady, then go fool around... Maybe some video games or music... I have general aches and pains being older but a good appitite and normal sleeping patterns... What do you have? I always get good shit
Let me know if I can expand on anything... Good luck

(53,969 posts)CBD oil doesn't do anything for me in that area, but it is WONDERFUL for curbing pain when it is applied directly to the area; it also works for certain types of headaches, like stress, not so much for allergy/weather related ones, though it can lessen the pain. For stress and anxiety, I use gummies. I have learned how much I need by experimenting early on. It is best to ask people in the know, and let them know exactly what type of issues you are having because there are a few types of gummies out there. I have found the gummies, when not in full force, stop my brain from over-firing and allows me to calm down. I don't get the munchies, but I never did when I smoked pot.
Good luck!
