The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI've read that male sweet bell peppers have 3 lobs. Female have 4. Not sure what to make of this.
I picked this one out of my garden, this morning.

(33,643 posts)gender ... I would think anyway. Maybe there's some exceptions to that but it doesn't intuitively make sense from an evolutionary perspective.

(26,340 posts)I will say, that multi-lobed orange pepper was pretty well stocked with seeds. It's now stewing, along with the tomatoes I picked.

(16,616 posts)It's a long story, but we agreed to disagree but liked each other before we knew we had totally opposite opinions on politics, so we went back to talking about other things. It turned out she was the granddaughter of a farmer and grew up on a farm. She said that the male peppers make for better eating raw. Her grandfather taught her this. You could tell that this was the most important relationship in her life and that she misses him.

(25,931 posts)Your bullshit detector should have buzzed loudly at that. Do a quick Google on the topic.
That's one of those stupid things that shows up on the internet and people don't bother to fact-check.
Fact-checking is always a good idea.

(26,340 posts)Honestly, not everything has to be a debate. But if you feel better, then bless your heart.

(14,629 posts)That was completely unnecessary. Why do people have to be jerks, especially on DU?

(26,340 posts)I just don't get the need to be insulting. Especially about something so benign as sweet pepper lobes!
