Dennis Quaid Adopted A Shelter Cat Named Dennis Quaid

One lucky black cat named Dennis Quaid from the Lynchburg Humane Society has just landed a home in the lap of luxury. And who ended up adopting him? According to the local news station, feline Dennis Quaid was adopted by actor Dennis Quaid!
As the actor shared with WSLS, “It was really off the wall, but I just couldn’t resist. I had to. I’m out to save all the Dennis Quaids of the world.”
The animal shelter’s website shared that the little black kitty is a 6-year-old cat that tips the scale from 13.81 lbs. His adoption fee was $79. His animal description on the website evens stated, “I may not live up to my dramatic and artistic actor namesake, I’d rather watch his movies with you curled up on the couch.”
Dennis Quaid, the actor, had recently started The Pet Show, a pet podcast through his company, Audio Up. He heard about the cat with his namesake and decided that it would make for a perfect adoption story. However, understandably, the staff at the shelter were a little skeptical of the actor’s intention to adopt the mini Dennis Quaid.
As the Adoption Center Manager of Lynchburg Humane Society, Danielle Ulmer, said to WSLS, she initially thought it was a prank of some kind.
In order to dispel any disbelief, Quaid got on a Zoom call with the shelter. He was joined by his podcast co-host, Jimmy Jellinek, and the two of them not only met kitty Quaid, but they also were able to assure the shelter that it wasn’t a hoax – something that took a surprising bit of convincing.
After everything was worked out, the two Dennis Quaids became one and the actor officially adopted his feline namesake. As WSLS reported, Jellinek will be making the trip from Los Angeles to Lynchburg in order to pick up Dennis Quaid and bring him home to human Dennis Quaid.
“Maybe they should start naming animals in shelters after different celebrities and see who bites,” Jellinek stated.
That would definitely be a great idea. Either way, we’re so happy to hear that feline Dennis Quaid now has a brand new forever home. Wishing all the happiness to both Dennis Quaids.
