Random thoughts on a Saturday morning...

These are the things I started thinking about when I woke up:

1. I miss our Uncle Teddy. I can't help but think he'd be getting shit done and kicking some teaper ass.
2. Vitacost rules. After 15 years of not being able to do anything about my fibromyalgia, I found a reprieve...and Vitacost is helping.
3. My cats need a hobby besides annoying me.
4. It's officially monsoon season and the weather report will say "30% chance of rain" until September. Arizona has lazy meteorologists.
5. Dinner. Dinner. Dinner. I'm sick of coming up with ideas for friggin' dinner. I need a chef. A maid and a personal assistant would be nice, as well.
6. DU has become my home. The Lounge is my media room, Meta is Thanksgiving with the family, the BOG is the kitchen.
7. TV sucks. Netflix rules.
8. I miss my kids (my son and his wife). They're only 1.75 hours away, but it's 110° in Phoenix and our van needs a fan clutch.
9. My stepsons wife is a piece of shit and needs fucking therapy.
10. I have a lot to do today, but I think I'll procrastinate on 90% of it.

I guess I just have absolutely no sense of humour about money. I work too damn hard for it and don't expect anyone to pay me for doing nothing.

8. Nope, this isn't the kind of maid I'm looking for, either.

I think a man's idea of a maid and a woman's is different. I want some woman that will totally understand my lack of interest in cleaning up after myself. Don't care what she looks like, how old she is, how congenial she is. Hell, it could be a guy for all I care, though in that case...appearance and age might make a difference. What? I'm oldish, not dead. I can still appreciate art.

...Neil wasn't looking for the "traditional" maid. I just want someone to clean my house.

10. I have a funny story about that.

In college, I was in a fraternity. Like most fraternities, our rented house was a mess. (This is why I was an RA, so I could live in the dorms.) I really just wanted a clean house for the yearly alumni event because we hit them up for money to buy a permanent house and for the scholarship fund...it's impossible to get anything out of them living in a pigsty and I'm the Treasurer so it's my job to hit them up for the loot. So I start cleaning, two hours later I haven't made a dent. So we call a cleaning service out of the yellow pages...they tell us $75/hr. minimum of 3 hours. Well, I want to do it (They're pros and they're going to send a crew. It'll take them 3 hours almost exactly by my estimation.) but nobody else wants to approve the expenditure. So we go get the Washington CityPaper...and there are some reasonable house-cleaning ads...but the rest of the executive board fixates on "Nude Housekeeping. $50 for one hour. Inquire for details and photo." So, this is who they hire over my preference for "Two Spanish Old Ladies Cleaning Service. Party cleanup and college group homes welcomed. $35/hr." because I want it done right and the money is coming out of the party budget. More housekeeper means less beer.

So the nude housekeeper shows up...and she's gorgeous. Takes off all her clothes...and time slowed. So I tell her exactly what needs to be done, take her on the tour of the house. And she gets to work but she seems a little off like she didn't actually expect to be cleaning. She's putting no effort into it and seems to have no idea what she's doing. After about 20 minutes, I stop her. I ask why this is a problem. "Well, usually I take off my clothes and after about 5 minutes of this charade, the Johns proposition me...we work out an arrangement. It's an act. I don't clean houses."

Felt bad, paid her for the hour and sent her home. Made them clean the house themselves for being idiots.

Leave it to a bunch of frat boys to go looking for a housekeeper in the CityPaper and end up hiring a hooker.

13. It's officially monsoon season and the weather report...

No matter what time of year it is, the meteorologists reports can be divided into dull or boring. Yes, now is the time when we get the daily "__% chance of rain." I don't believe it until the rain hits the windows. IF we are lucky the rain will last longer than 10 minutes.

Dinner - tonight salmon patties, fruit, corn bread.
