My niece was married in Elgin in 2001 and we had three glorious weeks in Scotland - which included a good bit of whiskey tasting. My favorites, not in any particular order.

Highland Park
Macallan
Balvenie
any of the Speysides

Not a Laphroaig fan at all

There was a crossroads in Tomintoul that had a little grocery and a whiskey store with mini bottles of just about every single malt made. Would love to go back.

Thanks for posting.

with Jura Tastival
Oban and my all time favorite
Edradour.

I was fortunate enough to have friends who wanted to share what they loved about Scotland. The first part of our visit was to Islay. We went for the Whisky Festival. Each distillery had an open day. Ardbeg, Bowmore, Laphroig. My favorite was Jura. Generous pours and sitting under a palm tree to sip it. Pretty darn close to heaven.

I love Jack Daniel's Old Number 7. I'm in good company too cuz apparently, Frank Sinatra was buried with a bottle of the stuff.

True, some whiskies require an iron stomach for consumption - I'm not fond of those varieties.

I organize private Single Malt Scotch tastings two or three times a year and some of the die hard fans will enjoy seeing this chart. The first thing they'll want to know is which whiskys from those distilleraries were part of the study because distilleraries may have a profile but many are experimenting with different additives, barrels, ages, etc.

Something from Balvenie, Glenmorangie, and Ardbeg are my house whiskys.

Do you have a link you can share?

This is fantastically helpful and will save me a ton of money when it comes to trying new Scotch.

I like Ardbeg, Laphroaig, and Jura.
