Anyone watching American Colony/Hutterites on cable.

it is very interesting.

This show follows a colony of hutterites in their daily life.

They are sort of like the Amish but more modern.

They do like to drink beer, even the women get to drink.

They still have strict rules to follow.

But when I read about them in a sociology class textbook in the mid-1980's the fertility rate of Hutterite women in their forties was greater than most US Caucasian women in their twenties. Nothing wrong with that, it's just what I remember learning.

AWFUL part: SHUNNING. Happened to a mother of teen aged boys who went to 'outside' public high school. The rules, I think: education ends at age ?14?
