What other common names? Or even better, genus species? Pix later on desk top. No clue how to do on phone. Being swarmed. Haven't seen them since I was a kid in the city - hence the alley bug name.
Oh, they are true bugs, less than 1/2 inch long, mostly black with some orange markings - you know, like a ton of other true bugs

(115,806 posts)They look a lot like boxelder bugs but they are native to the deserts of western North America, according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melacoryphus_lateralis
