(34,136 posts)For most of the forty years they lived there, they would find tennis balls in the shubery along that side. I'd get some of the balls every time I visited to give to my sister in law for her retrievers and they loved it.
About ten years ago, some kids asked my parents if they could search out the lost balls and Dad said yes, since he was no longer able to crawl around the bushes. I sort of miss being able to give them to SIL's dogs, though she's now several generations of dogs down from the height of the tennis ball bonanza. Maybe I will buy them some for Christmas this year.

(36,827 posts)My Aussie loves to play fetch and my border collie tries her best to keep her from bringing the ball back to me by nipping at her and running in front of the Aussie and stopping.
I keep the ball in a Chuck-it and out of their reach when we are done.

(36,827 posts)My back yard is about a 1/2 acre, so if I let them have access to it then I wouldn't find it again for months. The rubber ones are much more expensive than regular tennis balls.
