I encountered a bear once at my mom's place and I have to admit to running inside the house as fast as possible. It was a black bear and I had no problem running away from it or the high pitched noise I emitted.

Not so bright. She should have honked her horn and should have had bear spray. If a bear approaches out of curiosity, hose it with the spray to let it know that whatever it had in mind was a bad idea. She was dumb and the Dodo should know better than to make light of what could have turned out badly.
