I have thought of putting a hole in the ceiling so I can pee from up here but, the
wife wouldn't appreciate that if she was sitting on the throne.

Put it on speakerphone, take it with you to the bathroom, do your business and continue being on hold.

I call it broadcast mode, but the speakerphone thing on cell phones or the handsets of my landline phone are the best thing ever. Get put on hold, put it on broadcast, and do whatever else until someone finally shows up.

Surely I'm not the only person who has figured this out.

Wow. I am simply surprised that you didn't go to a wireless version long ago. Or, alternatively, have purchased a 25 foot long cord so you're not stuck to being two feet from the base unit.

Decades ago, long before we had the wireless handsets, I discovered the joys of a 25 foot cord.

I've been a little busy the past 5 years on projects. Other things on my mind.

I see a bad moon a-rising
I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightnin'
I see bad times today
Don't go 'round tonight
It's bound to take your life
There's a bathroom on the right
